Todays thought: I wonder how the average person would score on a reading comprehension test, and I wonder how much of what one comprehends in something they read is based strictly on emotion, rather than sensible, calculated thought. I used to write these long, well thought out letters to this acquaintance of mine. The majority of the letters would be glowing praise. But sometimes there would be maybe one sentence in them where I would say something that could be construed as negative. For example, You might want to think about changing (something). That part is a little hard to comprehend. Like magic, every single one of the positive things would disappear, in the huge cloud of smoke created by the one minuscule thing they chose to see as criticism of their vast perfection. This is a huge flaw many humans seem to have. Why is it that so many people have such a hard time analyzing ALL of what is written instead of taking out a minor piece and responding as if that were the entire text? The human mind often works very strangely. Its an observation I have made many times throughout life, but have been forced to contemplate numerous times in the past several days on my Facebook wall.
