Todays thought~ Leading through Christ. Todays message comes from a saying at a mens retreat that I went to and from 2 Timothy 4:17. As members of the Body of Christ we are called to be leaders in the areas of our influence and to lead in a manner that glorifies God. Each day we are to continue to work on becoming more like Christ, or else we run the risk of becoming less like Christ. However we are not called to do this on our own. As St. Paul reminds us “The Lord stood at my side and gave me the strength so that through me the word might be fully proclaimed to all the Gentiles. And I was rescued from the lions mouth. In the life we live here on earth, the lion that God rescues us from is the life of sin and separation. When we put our faith and trust in Him, and rely upon His strength as we acknowledge Christ as our Lord and Savior then God will redeem us and stand with us so that His strength is our strength. If you can do this then the Light of Christ will be visible in and through you. When this occurs you can use that light and how you live your life for Christ as leadership principles for others to see the glory of Christ. True Christian leadership is the ability to get others to do something because they want to do it, and they want to do it for Christ. We can see this model played out in Moses, Joshua, Deborah, Joseph & Mary, the Apostles, and Paul. So as you go to a time of prayer and reflection today, ask yourself if you are truly walking with Christ striving to be a leader for Him and with Him, not because you have to, but because it is truly want you wish to do for Him
