High winds Strengthening surface high pressure over the Great Basin will bring periods of strong and gusty northeasterly winds for mountain ridges, passes, canyons, coastal mountain slopes and into adjacent foothill areas into Saturday evening. Winds will decrease for the northern areas late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Winds will weaken for the southern areas, including San Diego and Riverside Counties, by Sunday afternoon. High surf and strong rip currents A large westerly swell of seven to eight feet with a seventeen- to twenty-second period will result in high surf and strong rip currents mainly along the west-facing beaches of Orange and San Diego Counties through Saturday evening.
