Using resiststance based exercises helps to maintain lean muscle mass and performing the reps and contracting the muscles to create speed and force will help to increase calories expenditure making it more efficient than low intensity aerobic training. Putting them in a circuit allows you to keep your heart rate up and as you move between periods of high intensity (work) and low intensity (rest) so that you are using different energy systems and different fuels (carbs & fats) to perform your activities which is why it is so efficient for fat loss.
