Todays workout was reminiscent of the way I used to train in my prior life - before kids, before all my injuries, before I had to watch the clock every second to get upstairs and relieve my husband so he could get to work... After my pelvic fracture and being told I had severe arthritis in the area, I was told I wouldnt be able to safely do any more marathons. For months and months I dwelled on that and was pretty miserable, but Ive been learning to take it one day and one workout at a time. Today my workout included 4 sets of 3-minute runs alternating with goblet squats, and then 4 sets of 3-minute jogs alternating with dead lifts. It felt so great to see my body hold up so well during that workout, and to see that I could still workout so hard that Id be totally spent (so much that it was hard to get up from side planks at the end!). I came upstairs and made a delicious smoothie which was the most perfect thing in the world at that moment (these smoothies are really helping me more easily be able to stick to a clean diet right now): Frozen banana, lychees, almond butter, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, and coconut water. As I enjoyed my smoothie, I thought about how far I have come over the past two years. Sure, Im NO WHERE NEAR where I want to be, I may never be able to achieve what I used to, and I almost die from envy watching other moms workouts like Fitjuicemama, but I have so much to be thankful for. Sometimes I need to stop myself from comparing myself to everyone else and criticizing my body, and just appreciate my efforts to be as fit and healthy as I possibly can be.
