Today’s 80sObscurities artist hails from the Belgian electro scene of the latter part of that decade. The Arch are principally comprised of vocalist “CUVG”, keyboardist Ian Lambert and the guitar duo of “Ivan DC” and “Mr. Pierre.” Producing an electro/guitar crossover sound similar to – but more rock than – scene stalwarts A Split Second, The Arch first appeared on the “Expo ‘87” compilation released on Dirk Ivens’ Body Records. The exposure led to a partnership with Ludo Camberlin, long-time producer of Lords of Acid and whose A Blaze Colour (featured here previously) may be the most criminally underappreciated band of the Belgian scene. Camberlin issued both Arch’s debut EP (“As Quiet As...” - 1986) and their first full length (“A Strange Point of You” - 1988) on his Anything But Records label. Several singles, including today’s showcase song, and another full length followed on Antler Subway through the early 90s. The band continued to record and release on various labels until the late 90s, before fading from view. In 2012, however, the band returned with a brand-new album, “Engine in Void”, on the German label Echozone and has subsequently started touring again. From their first Antler Subway outing, here’s The Arch with “Stay Lay.”
