Ekiti State Governor-Elect, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has faulted the opinion of the Lagos-based legal practitioner, Mr Femi Falana (SAN) that some people are planning to relocate from the state after the inauguration of the governor-elect In the statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi,in Ado Ekiti Tuesday,the governor-elect described the claim by the lawyer as baseless and out of place Fayose was apparently reacting to a statement in a publication in one of the national dailies (not Vanguard) in which Falana was quoted as saying some people in the state are planning to relocate from the state after the inauguration of Fayose in October 16, saying Ekiti State is gradually gaining the status of terror- state. Vanguard Following the recent attacks on judicial officials in Ekiti State, and arsonist attacks on the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, by alleged supporters of the state’s governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, the APC has accused the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, of planning “fresh insurrection” in the state. The Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, Taiwo Olatubosun, in a statement on Tuesday alleged that the planned unrest was aimed at intimidating the residents of the state and subverting the decision of the election tribunal towards the October 16 handover date. The tribunal is expected to rule on the eligibility of Mr. Fayose to contest the gubernatorial election which he won following his impeachment from office on allegation of corruption in 2006. Premium Times Mr Linus Udofia, the chairman, Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, in Akwa Ibom, on Tuesday, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party. Announcing his decision in Ibiaku, headquarters of Uruan ward, Udofia said he took the decision after due consultations with his supporters and members of his family and to make himself relevant in the politics of the state. He said, “I am coming back to the PDP to contribute my quota to rebuilding the party, particularly in my Northern Uruan Ward 2 of Akwa Ibom State. Punch A war of words has ensued between the Abia State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and a chieftain of the opposition All Progressive Congress in the state, Chief Okey Nwagbara over his alleged derogatory remarks on Gov. Theodore Orji. Nwagbara who is the APC Zonal Chairman for Abia Central, had allegedly described the recent National Honours Award conferred on Governor Orji “as an insult to Abia people, especially those residing in the abandoned city of Aba.” PDP in a swift reaction, described the APC chieftain as ” a confused political desperado looking for relevance”. Punch The PDP elders’ caucus in Benue South West Senatorial zone has excluded former Niger Delta minster Sam Odeh and Mr Harris Ogbole from contesting the governorship primaries of the party. The meeting which was held in Otukpo on Monday also urged the remaining aspirants in the race to harmonise their positions and present a formidable candidate who would challenge aspirants from the other zones of the state. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Odeh and Ogbole, a lawyer, were excluded from the contest following the unanimous endorsement of Senate President David Mark for another term in the senate.
