Today’s Gospel [Memorial of Saint Anthony of Padua, Priest and Doctor of the Church]: )【We may feel that killing someone is a serious matter and deprecating someone as a minor thing. But Jesus tells us that belittling others and causing them to feel inferior and not worth a cent, is a very serious matter. We need to note whether our words or actions upraise others or belittle others, whether we make them feel negative on a long-term basis or help them to be positive in orientation and as a result. This is intimately connected with offering sacrifice at the altar. As Jesus said: “If you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.】(Mt 5:20-26)
