Today’s Gospel [Tuesday of 12th Week in Ordinary Time]: )【We generally regard dogs as friends, even as “man’s best friend,” loyal friends. Pigs would be very willing to be our friends too and they are as intelligent as dogs. But we generally do not consider that or know that. We, on other hand, may deprecate others by saying he or she is “as stupid as a pig!” Anyhow, if we show a holy picture to a dog, it will not know how to appreciate it. If we give a pearl to a pig to appreciate, it will similarly not be able to so. For us humans, not everyone would understand or accept the meaning of a holy picture. Not everyone would be able to perceive how important and crucial it is for ourselves and for others that we be willing to sacrifice for the good of others. But we can learn to. Then we will be willing to “enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.” We can learn to “do to others whatever you would have them do to you.” If we can come to be able to be grateful to others for sacrificing for us, cherish what sacrifice they have made for us, we would be able to understand how important and crucial it is for ourselves, for others and for the earth, for us to do good, to be good to others, and to be willing to make sacrifice for the sake others.】(Mt 7:6,12-14) 2013-06-25 (Tuesday of 12th Week in Ordinary Time)
