Today’s Gospel is LK 12:54-59. The Saint of the Day is St. Antônio de Sant’Anna Galvão. One of the best-known religious figures in Brazil, renowned for his healing powers, Galvão made his solemn profession on April 16, 1761, taking the Franciscan vow to defend the Blessed Virgin Marys title of the Immaculate Conception, which was still a controversial doctrine at that time. He was ordained a priest and transferred to Saint Francis Friary in the city of São Paulo, where he continued his studies in theology and philosophy. He made a spiritual submission of himself as a servant and slave of the Blessed Mother, signing it in his own blood. He collaborated in the foundation of a new Recollect house, named Our Lady of the Conception of Divine Providence, which was established on February 2, 1774. It was modeled after the Conceptionists, and became the home for girls who wished to live a religious life but without taking vows. WHO WILL DELIVER ME FROM THIS MORTAL BODY?
