Today’s Thoughts… “Christmas Spirit” How many times have we heard people say, “I just don’t have the Christmas Spirit this year” !!! …. Far too many times I have heard these words and I must admit I’ve even spoken them myself. So, I have given this subject some thought, and wanted to see what can be done about it. As you all know, Christmas is about giving and has nothing to do with what we receive. We all feel good inside our hearts when we can do something to help someone in need. We look in the mirror, we smile, and we are pleased with ourselves, sometimes we even give ourselves a little pat on the back. Awwwwww, I think I have just stumbled across the Christmas Spirit issues and how to solve them. When we are feeling low, when the Jingle Bells don’t jingle in our hearts anymore, the answer lies in giving. The fact is, when a person gives to help those in need, it gives us back love and a feeling of accomplishment. That’s the point when the Christmas Spirit starts coming back into our lives. Christmas Spirit is love, Christmas Spirit is hope, Christmas Spirit is joy in helping others. So, my friends, when you are feeling low, as I have heard so much at this time of year, simply go out and make a difference for someone who is unable to help themselves. I know this time of year there are a lot of people who have lost loved ones, and it seems that they can barely get through the holidays and hold it all together. Well; I would suggest this, go out and do something and do it in the name of your lost loved one. That way, their name will live on forever and you will be doing something in their memory, I promise you, it will make you feel good, it will help you get through the lonely times when you so desperately wish you had that one more day. The Christmas Spirit lives within our hearts, it lives within our souls. Look around you, you have a home, you have food, you have people who love you. You have so much so please don’t let the Grinch take over and steal your Christmas Spirit. You can live without a lot of things, but you cannot live without Christmas Spirit, it is the force that drives you to love, and love is the force that drives YOU… Patrick P. 12/12/2013
