Today’s adventure -- a tour of El Nispero Conservation Center. The golden frog is the national symbol of Panama and is thought to bring good luck. Once prolific, a fungal infection along with pollution caused a deterioration of the skin of the golden frog. No longer seen in the wild, this species is represented here at the center. The zoo provides the opportunity to see examples of the local fauna. Lunch today was home-hosted where the women used the old fashioned cooking methods of wood burning ovens. This home was upper middle class where it was used as a B & B. Quite nice.
