Today’s topic comes from a female listener, Hello Lil D, I’m so embarrassed I received an email from my daughter’s teacher to meet with me. I was worried because she gets good grades & never has discipline problems. So the teacher was very polite and said she had a talk with my daughter- 6) after her lunch balance was negative & if she didn’t let me know she could not eat. She said my daughter told her we don’t have money to buy things. I get they have to ask questions but she asked did we have food in the house and what does she get to eat. My daughter said that because I do say no to a lot of things she wants and money is very low so I’m not mad. I don’t qualify for assistance & everything is on me, that’s fine &her dad is in Columbus but no job or interest in her. I honestly didn’t have 6 bucks last Friday but I sent a sandwich and an apple Monday but according to the school that was not enough. Money is on her account now because I got paid today. But we have everything we need just not much, she is always presentable and all my money goes to her wellbeing and our needs, sometimes I go without a lot. I do no personal shopping at all & all my time is with her when not working. I’m 26 & don’t know if they will try to investigate my parenting? I appreciate the teacher concern but my child said she asked way more personal questions. Not sure what to do when I’m doing all I can. It feels like a breaking point but I’m not broken yet. Is this normal school policy because I don’t want my child questioned so hard at 6? She seems scared.....Feedback?? In tears.
