Today’s post is about how ideas can be gifts. We’ve been talking a lot about it so I wanted to elaborate more on it. It is interesting that we often don’t want to share our gifts because we are afraid of what the world might think of us. For me, it’s more that I tend to be too afraid of who I was at age 14—when I was told that I had autism; I had no clue what it was or how to cope with it. Then a few years later my parents separated. I spent a lot of time in what I call darkness; it was not pretty. Today, I was listening to “Bless the Broken Road” by Selah, and it stuck me that one part of the song is about this: sometimes we have to follow the broken road knowing that our creator is still there, showing us the way back to him. He was always showing me his gifts, I just choose not follow him. I see that it was what I had to do to come to the point in my life where I am now. I had to travel the broken road to truly see what I was missing. My life is great, I love the path I’m on, and I love seeing the light. I wanted to share this to show others: just because you think you’re going down the wrong path, you don’t know what your creator is teaching you. We are all given gifts so share them with others; let’s shine our lights so others can see who we are. My gifts to the world are my compassion for others and my love of listening to others share their stories with me. I’m working on the idea of not being just a listener and giving my story the power of telling your story. Next time we will talk about using your story as gift and expand on the song we discussed earlier. Thanks.
