Today’s post is about the Frisian language! In the Province of Fryslân the official languages are the Dutch standard language and also (West) Frisian. (West) Frisian is spoken by approximately 450,000 people in Fryslân and it is used in most sectors like courts, public administration, radio, television and education. Although Frisian nowadays bears similarities to the Dutch, Low German and Danish language, Old Frisian was very similar to Old English.
