Today’s scripture reading is telling us to reexamine our “obedience” to God. Obedience to God demands only one thing and that is -“trust.” Trust even if the situation doesn’t seem to favor our will. Yes! The children of Israel numbering of about six hundred thousand men, not counting the little ones, set out from Egypt “on foot” with their livestock and very numerous flocks and herds. They had to rush without even the opportunity to prepare food for the journey. (Exodus 12:37-42) This trip is unimaginable! But why they had to leave on foot and unprepared? Simple. Obedience to what God has commanded them. Trust is the substance of our obedience to God. Without trust obedience is next to impossible. Today we rally against the command of our Church because our trust is overwhelmed with skepticism that we can cross the desert of our life on foot. >
