Toilet training Magical Water (worth a read) summary: Add a little “magic” to the toilet training process for your child, it may go a little smoother and be a lot more fun! Ask most parents and they will say that there is really nothing magical about toilet training. It can sometimes be downright frustrating. But maybe if you add a little “magic” to the process for the child, it may go a little smoother – and for sure be a lot more fun! What you’ll need Food colouring Water Put a small amount of water in the bottom of the child’s potty (this works best when the potty bowl is white). Show the child how the water in the potty or toilet turns a new shade with just a few drops of the “magic potion.” Then tell him something even more magical is going to happen when he goes pee pee on the potty. It’s going to change colours! Watch his expression after he goes potty when he sees the blue water turn green, or the red water turn orange. Try it with different combinations and see what happens. If you want to expand this science experiment further, and outside of the bathroom, show him by using clear glasses. Add some water to a few glasses, then let him add the food colouring a drop at a time to see how the water changes. Make a few different colours and then show him how to change the colours by adding a drop or two of a different colour. (Be sure to tell him it’s not for drinking!) When he’s doing creating his colours, the magically coloured water can be used for even more fun – and show him how water absorbs and gets material wet. Give him a small paintbrush and let him “paint” on white napkins or paper towels. Explain that the water is being drawn in to the napkin just like what happens when his Pull-Ups® Underpants get wet.
