Tolerance turns into intolerance and kills free speech. Thats it... Ive had enough. The political correctness these days is suffocating and it makes me want to vomit. You can hardly do anything and say anything anymore without offending someone. Im dressing up as a witch. I hope that doesnt offend any Wiccans or other pagans or spark witch trials all over again. All joking aside, it is about time we addressed offensive Halloween costumes that seem to come up year after year. For starters - please dont dress up as the undead. Many people have deceased relatives and the thought of them coming back to life in order to feast on the living is an extremely offensive and disgusting concept. This goes double for costumes that suggest reanimation (Frankenstein), as many terminal patients are known to report fears and suspicion of organ harvesting to families who will be mocked and traumatized by such costumes. Witch costumes must be banned, as well. Practitioners of Wicca have been crudely stereotyped for years and popular movies have glorified their killing (Wizzard of Oz, etc.). And lets not forget the horrors of Salem. It is not acceptable to continue a tradition that we all know will lead to the burning of fellow citizens in the town square. The original pirates were rapists and thieves and the victims of early piracy need to be respected. Donning these costumes is a form of dog-whistle racism, and is highly insensitive to the offspring of women around the world who have been raped - whether by pirates, home invaders, or drunk boyfriends. Modern pirates are misunderstood poor who have been severely harmed by global warm... er.. climate change stuff! Forced into a life of piracy, costumes depicting these poor souls are racist, of course, but they also mock the plight of the poor. Any student in a pirate costume will be expelled and spat upon by faculty members. And lets not forget that there are people who suffer from severe and debilitating conditions that are reminiscent of vampires (Porphyria) and werewolves (Hypertrichosis). People who wear such costumes should be shot on site. Or shunned. Or both. Possibly arrested. Ghost costumes? Im not even going to comment on something as blatantly racist as that.
