Tom Brady is a great quarterback and he usually says all the right - TopicsExpress

Tom Brady is a great quarterback and he usually says all the right things in post-game press conferences, but his study the rulebook comment in response to Harbaugh’s comments about the substitution plays were really f-ing cheap. Harbaugh wasn’t complaining about the formations themselves, he was complaining that the defense had to be given a right to substitute properly in response to an offensive substitution. The defense is allowed to bring in late subs. The umpire will stand over the ball in these situations and allow for the defense to make their proper personnel moves. Because the Patriots replaced/subbed a lineman (guard Josh Kline) for a skill position player, the Ravens should have been given time for a late substitution. By the letter of the law, the Pats did nothing illegal, but the plays were right on the edge of shady due to the lack of respect for the spirit of the defensive substitution rules; and in the future the NFL should, and probably will, allow for late defensive subs like they do on quick snap plays where the offense makes personnel changes. Smart move by the Pats, sure, but it’s also f-ing cheap, just like Brady’s comments were. Notice too that the Patriots never went back to those plays after Harbaugh complained, even though they were quite successful. Speaking of Brady, he went, in Al Michaels’ words, apoplectic, on the referee after being sacked and then involved in a tussle with Pernell McPhee. Brady got right in the ref’s face, almost and possibly bumping him, to scream his indignation at the game’s most recent events. The ref did nothing, and Brady managed to make himself look like a toddler after he’s been told no in regards to whether or not he can have a piece of candy. Brady’s a bonafide cry-baby and there is a definite double standard when it comes to him and his actions. Anybody else gets in an official’s face like that and he’s getting a flag, or even a fine from old Uncle Goodell. Brady’s attempting to intimidate and bully an official because he knows that if he pushes it with McPhee, he’ll just get his ass kicked. Plus he’s trying to intimidate the ref into throwing a flag. Acting like Brady acts when things don’t go his way is not how a man should act. Period.
