Tom Muir wielded the baton last night. Another interesting - TopicsExpress

Tom Muir wielded the baton last night. Another interesting selection of pieces including another one of Toms own skillful arrangements of hymn tunes. I thought it would be fun to pull out an arrangement for concert wind band of the quirky March from Dag Wirens Serenade for Strings, arranged by George Pollen (who once worked as copyist to composer Ronald Binge). Dag Wiren was a 20th century Swedish composer, the well known serenade being written in 1937. The march was used as a theme tune for the late1950s BBC TV arts programme Monitor.
