Tom Park is a good friend of mine who is currently in the hospital after having a trauma induced heart attack while playing basketball on Friday night. It turns out that he had an atrial myxoma (which is a non cancerous tumor) in his heart and it burst after getting hit in the chest. This caused a heart attack and the tumor spread throughout his body. This is a really rare condition. Because of the blood clotting in his legs, they had to amputate left leg from the knee down. Hes under a lot of medication so his consciousness is cloudy and he doesnt really know whats going on. His sister, Julie, was with him since Friday and their parents flew in from Korea on Saturday and are currently with him in the hospital. Please keep them in your prayers as the doctors and hospital staff figure out what to do and as the family and Tom endure the pain they are going through, Prayer Request: 1. Tom still does not know about his physical condition since hes been under anesthesia during his stay in the hospital. Please pray that hed be able to overcome the pain and the changes as soon as possible. 2. Even though legs were the biggest concern, doctors have informed Julie that they also have a thorough examination on his heart and his brain. Because of Toms physical condition, the doctors cant do an MRI scan. Please pray for a speedy recovery so that they can prevent further damage in his body and stop the spreading of tumor. 3. Julie needs to find a place for her and her mother in Connecticut to live for at least 6 months while Toms in the hospital. She also has to find out the insurance coverage and the situation with Toms school. Shes trying not to take a leave of absence because the insurance is school insurance. Please pray for her as she speaks to the school and looks for a place to live. 4. Julies dad has to go back to Korea next Tuesday to work. Please pray for his dad and his heart so that he could have peace. Its extra hard for him to go back to Korea when his family is going through so much. 5. Please pray for Toms family. His family is going through a really hard time. They are trying their best to pull themselves together before Tom wakes up. Pray for their heart that they would have peace and hope. Updates: His left thigh above the amputation site continues to swell and there is no blood circulation in his right foot. They are contemplating amputating the toes on his right foot. There is a lot of internal organ damage and his kidneys stopped working. He will eventually need a kidney transplant. They had to make an incision in his buttocks. Thank you. 지금 기도가 간절히 필요한 한 사람과 그 가족이 있습니다. 저희의 오랜 좋은 친구 박태현이라는 친구가 지금 병원에 입원해 있습니다. 농구하다가 가슴팍에 공을 맞고 갑작스런 심장마비로 병원을 찾았는데, CT촬영 결과, 심방적액종이라는 비암성종양이 발견이 심장쪽에 발견이 되고, 가슴에 충격으로 인해 터졌다고 합니다. 터진것으로 인해 갑작스런 심장마비가 오게 되었고 그로 인해 종양이 온몸에 퍼지고 있습니다. 의사들의 말로는 정말 의학적으로도 흔하지 않은 케이스라고 할만큼 희귀한 경우라고 합니다. 그러다가 입원 중 다리가 혈액 응고현상, 즉 피가 고여 다리에 마비가 오고, 특히나 왼쪽다리는 호전될 기미가 전혀 보이지 않아 무릎아래로 특단조치로 절단하였다고 합니다. 9시간이나 걸치는 종양제거 수술 및 다리절단 수술 등 입원 한지 몇일 되지 않았지만 투여된 약들로 인해 아직 의식은 있지만 완전히 깨어있지는 않아 본인 상태를 아직 전혀 모른다고 합니다. 마비가 오고 쓰러지고 본인 힘으로 병원까지 구급차를 타고는 왔으나 그이후 수술이후에는 아직 깨지 않았다고 합니다. 태현이의 여동생, 박지현이가 금요일,사건당일, 부터 쭉 오빠곁을 지키고 있고, 부모님이 토요일날 미국에 입국 하여서, (태현이는 코네티컷주에서 학교를, 지현이는 뉴욕주에 거주) 병원에서 태현이 옆을 지키고 계시답니다. 정말 우리모두의 기도가 간절히 필요할 때인 것 같습니다. 태현이를 치료하고 있는 의사 및, 간호사들과 병원을 위해서도 지속적으로 기도를 부탁드리고, 더불어 태현이의 가족이 지금 겪고 있을 슬픔과 아픔을 치유하게 해달라고, 정서적으로 심리적으로 안정을 취할수있도록 지속적으로 간절히 기도를 부탁드립니다. 특별히 기도제목을 올리자면, 1. 태현이가 수술들로 인해 아직 마취상태이기 때문에, 왼쪽다리가 절단된것도, 자기건강의 심각성도 아무것도 모르는 상태인데, 의식이 돌아왔을 때 태현이가 정말 잘 받아드리고 힘낼수있고 앞으로 계속될 치료들을 이겨낼수있도록 2. 현재 상태로는 오른쪽다리를 유지하는게 가장 큰 문제이긴 하지만, 의사진들이 태현이의 심장과 뇌를 좀더 자세히 검토를 해봐야 한다고 합니다. 태현이가 여러 수술들을 거쳤고 지금 상태가 아직 MRI를 찍을수 있는 상태가 아니라서, 정말 한시라도 빨리 검사들이 완료되어 더 이상 악화될수 없게끔, 그리고 종양들이 더 이상 퍼지지 않게끔 3. 지금 지현이, 태현이 동생이 최소 6개월동안 코네티컷에 거주할 곳을 찾고있고, 또 의료보험관련해서 찾아야될 정보도 찾아야 하는데, 태현이 상태로봐선 휴학을 신청해야하지만, 보험이 학생보험인지라 될수 있는한은 휴학신청은 안하려 합니다. 이상황들이 잘 해결되어서 가족과 지현이가 태현이 옆에서 태현이를 돌보는것에만 집중할수 있도록 다른 여건들을 잘 해결해주실수 있도록 4. 태현이 아버지가 장시간 한국을 비울수 없어 다음주 화요일에 다시 돌아가셔야 한답니다. 자식이 병원에 입원해 있고 아직 정확한 상태를 모르는상태에서 다시 집으로 가셔야하는 태현이 아버지의 마음을 위해서 5. 마지막으로는 태현이 가족을 위해 많은 기도 부탁드립니다. 태현이에게 많은 힘이 되기위해 힘을 내시려고 안정을 취하시려고 많은 노력을 하신다고 합니다. 태현이가 깨기전에 정말 태현이에게 가장 큰힘이 될수있는 상태에서 만날수 있도록 9/29/2014최근 업데이트입니다: 지금 왼쪽 무릎아래 절단부분 위로 허벅지부분이 계속 부어있는 상태고, 오른쪽 다리에 피가 원활하게 돌고있지 않은 모양입니다. 의사진들이 현재 오른쪽 발가락 절단을 고려 하고 있는 상황입니다. 또 종양들이 퍼져 장기들이 많이 손상이 되었는데, 특히나 콩팥이 기능정지상태랍니다. 결국에 콩팥이식수술을 받아야할 것이고 오늘 엉덩이 부분 절개를 마친 상태입니다. 우리 모두가 도울수 있는 방법: 내일부터 매일 점심시간(12-1pm)에 최소한 5분씩 기도해 주십시오. 하루 24시간중 5분만이라도 태현이와 그 가족을 위해 기도해 주십시오. 그리고, 개인적으로 태현이와 그가족에게 전달하고싶은 메시지나 하실말씀이 있으시면, [email protected] 으로 이메일 보내주시면 감사하겠습니다.
