Tom Round at 99 and a day! This afternoon I visited Tom at his home. I took my ipad and read out ALL your messages to him. He was quite moved that so many people had chosen to write and he thanked you. I took him to a local garden centre overlooking Morecambe Bay for a coffee and a cake. There was a table of about 8 ladies out for afternoon tea and they all recognised him! Best described as the over 70s schoolgirls crying out for Nanki Poo! We returned home and chatted about his favourite G & S part. Dick Dauntless he said without hesitation, because I could be myself. Told him that he looked well for 99, which reminded him of in a bad light and in the dusk with the light behind. Sadly, his short term memory is not good but with prompts we talked about various people he had worked with starting with those who were in the in the DC in 1946. He talked about Merry Widow at Saddlers Wells then at the Colliseum. He misses his wife Alice very much and spoke very fondly of her. He also mentioned Don (Donald Adams) and said that he could not believe that he was still living and Donald had passed away. There was a card from Valerie Masterson and family.
