Tom and I are adamantly against any cameras (still & video) in the courtroom during the Aurora shooter trial. 11 Denver area media outlets and CourtTV have petitioned the court to allow full live video and still camera access to the court proceedings/trial. The judge will hear verbal arguments on 9/22/14. In addition to many safety concerns, cameras in the courtroom would preserve the re-creation of Alexs murder (and 11 others, and 57 injuries) on film, over and over, in perpetuity, forever. This type of documentation will be beyond devastating to our family and so many others who continue to suffer on a daily basis from the loss of a loved one and the trauma of this horrific event. This type of documentation will also contribute to the infamy/celebrity of a mass murderer. Public access and public right to know to court proceedings continue to be in place, as they have always been - since before cameras were ever allowed in any courtroom. We will not allow the media corporations (via courtroom cameras) to exploit our childs violent murder to improve their ratings and profits. I encourage you to please voice your opinion of opposition to cameras in the court during the Aurora shooter trial to KUSA, Denver Post, 9News, Westword, CourtTV or any other Denver/Aurora/National publication and media source - via social media, phone calls, op-ed, opinions, letter to editor, etc. We sincerely thank you for your public vocal support during this ongoing difficult time. -Caren Teves Mother of Alex Teves Murdered in Aurora theater 7/20/12
