Tom and I did an outreach yesterday and there ended being a lot of turkeys left over. They allowed volunteers to take as many as they wanted. So we grabbed a bunch of turkeys to give out one for us to keep. We drove over to the parking lot of Walmart looking for people to bless. A woman with two young children was walking by us as we entered the parking lot. I told Tom to back up she needed a turkey. We rolled down the window asking her if her family had a turkey for thanksgiving. She said no. Than we asked if she would like one? The woman said yes! She was staying at a shelter and said they would cook it for her family. Her oldest daughter and her family were at the shelter too so we gave one for her to bring for them too. A beat up car was passing us I quickly jumped out and asked them if they had a turkey? They said no. The woman had a McDonalds shirt on her husbands jaw dropped as I loaded the turkey through the window. I handed it to their daughter in the back seat she was equally as shocked. We had two left I looked over the parking lot saw a woman putting a new surround sound system in her car. People walking to a Lexus. We circled again I prayed Lord please show me who needs a turkey. I saw a woman with a bright pink tank top at the end of the aisle. I told Tom its her pull up to her so I can ask her. I walked out of the car and said do you have a turkey for your family? She said no I cant afford one. I asked her if I could give her one. She jumped in the air saying yes yes yes! I gave her the turkey she was acting as if she just won the lotto. She screamed thank you Jesus! Her friend asked if she could have one too. I looked at Tom to see if he would mind giving her ours. He said go ahead. She said we werent going to have a turkey this year but now we can! Im still taken back over how much getting a turkey was like winning lotto to these people. It makes me appreciate that I have so much. Even if its not enough its still more than most sadly.
