Tommy, was transferred to Healthsouth Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital at 4:00. We got to the facility a little after 5 because of traffic. Then at 5:36 he was put into a room. Then all hades broke lose. The ambulance EMTs noticed the room was nasty. When they asked if they were told the wrong room, they were told to bring him back out because the room had not been cleaned, and the former patient had Hepatitis! If the EMTs, hadnt questioned the nursing staff about thw unmade bed, Tommy would have been put in a hepatitis patients bed! Also, the patients name, and prcautions were still written on the board! Can anyone say HIPPA? Several HIPPA laws broken in 5 seconds! Tommy was left on an ambulance gurney in the hallway until 6:30! The EMTs put him on the hospital bed, and apologized for the wait, which was NOT their fault. We just met his nurse about 15 minutes ago, and hes just now getting a cold sandwich since he was not served dinner because of the wait! NO one has taken his vitals, went over his medicine list, asked about alergies, or performed any admission stuff that all hospitals do when you are admitted to their floor. We had been here for nearly 2 hours and no one had introduced themself, checked on him, or even said hi, until he called out asking for a urinal! Now we find out that NONE of his orders from his Dr or his surgeon have been received. I am NOT impressed at all. I went from heartbroken to down right, good old fashioned MAD!
