Tomorrow, 11th Aug, it will be the first anniversary of my brother, Raghuram Kundapurkar, the eldest among the siblings. He was a brilliant research scientist who was with Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and had contributed in the launching of Indias first two satellites from the Russian cosmodrome. Whenever India makes progress in space exploration and research, we quietly pay a tribute to him and other team members from allied fields who have been making the advancement possible. He believed in following a principled life and thus influenced our lives too. Strangely, though he was not a religious person in the common sense of the term but was well read and knowledgeable in the true spirit of worlds leading religions and philosophies. He believed in encouraging merit whenever he discovered it in children, whether they be his own daughters or others. Thank you, Anna, for all that you were to all of us all through these years. PS : The first photo is him as a child (when photography was rare and not easily affordable), the second photo is him with me on the Dadar (Mumbai) beach, near our house, the third one is with his wife, grand-daughter, my brother-in-law and my family and the last one his chatting with my grandson.
