Tomorrow, I will complete my ten day, 3000 mile tour of the South. My last stop will be the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Ebenezer, Georgia. Completed in 1769, it is the oldest standing public building in Georgia. My seventh great grandfather Frederick Rester worshipped there as a little boy until he was called to fight in the American Revolution at the age of thirteen. While he was away fighting under General George Washington, the British stormed and occupied the little church. After he was shot, he became a veteran of the American Revolution at the ripe old age of fifteen. Tomorrow, I shall occupy the church for the purpose of giving a prayer of thanks that he survived so that I could live and pray in a free country.
