Tomorrow I will ride in my 5th PMC. I will pedal to Ptown for the 10th time in the last five years to support causes very near and dear to me. The weather forecast is a little daunting - riding 192 miles in what looks like could be pouring rain all weekend isnt on the top of my fun things to do list. But this morning I woke up and decided that I was not going to worry about the weather. It is what it is. And I will survive. I thought about the parents that I personally know that have watched their child fight a losing battle. They wake up every morning with a piece of them missing. When I hop on my bike tomorrow, rain or no rain, i will be thinking of Maddie, Meghan, Mary, Charlotte, and Samantha - because they will never get the chance to experience what it feels like when 5000 bike riders get together for a common cause. I will think about Joey, who just had another scan and is still cancer free thanks to the treatment he got at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. And this year a six year old little boy who took the world by storm when he asked for Birthday cards, Danny Nickerson, will be on my mind every mile of the way. I will also think of all the friends and family that I have who are survivors - so many of my FB friends know what it takes to fight this disease. And the people I lost to Cancer - My mother Millie and my father Charlie, Aunt Leona, Aunt Jean, Linda Cavossa - there are so many names that I could list, but I would be afraid I would miss someone. Cancer sucks. Pediatric Cancer destroys families. Yet so little of the money raised goes to pediatric cancer research. Thats why I ride on the P4P team. You never know when pediatric cancer is going to hit close to home. But for the grace of god go I...Thank you so very much for your support - this weekend is one of the highlights each year for me - the signs that say I am (insert age here) because of you make me stop and say hello and really appreciate what riding in the PMC can accomplish. I encourage everyone to participate in some way - you wont be sorry! This weekend, I will try to keep the rubber side down! I will also try to keep a smile on my face, even if I am a soggy wrinkled mess. Peace out. #PMC2014 #dannyswarriors #moreaboutmaddie #meghankduffyfoundation #ridingforangels Samantha Bourque Patrice McAndrew Kelly Colleen Duffy Kristen Herold Savoie Ernie Savoie Carley Nickerson Jamie Kelley
