Tomorrow, June 27th, is PTSD Awareness Day. As we know, many of the brave men and women, who have given their service to our country, return home with what is called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But, PTSD can affect those who have experienced any kind of trauma in their lives, leaving them to live an isolated existence, many times, as they try to protect themselves from re-living the triggers that cause their symptoms of panic and anxiety. After I nearly died, in May of 2009, from an Addisons crisis, I experienced the terror that can come from PTSD and sought out a therapist to help me work through this life-altering condition. If you have dealt with a severe trauma in your life, and many with chronic medical conditions have, and fear you may suffer from PTSD but arent sure, please take a few minutes and go to reshealth.org/rhcservices/behavioral/ptsd.cfm to take a screening test, so that you can learn if you truly are dealing with PTSD and can, then, reach out to get the help you deserve and need to combat its crippling emotional and physical effects. If you are a military person, firstly, thank you for your service. You can take a test at MindBodyStrength.org, and learn more about PTSD that relates to the military community.
