To many native communities, the term redskin is one filled with historical trauma and racism. This name combined with the teams caricature is not only demeaning to an entire indigenous populace but also reinforcing of a colonial narrative that native faces, titles, traditions and lives do not matter. In past years, natives have come to rally support against this team with a common goal:TO CHANGE THE NAME!
