Tomorrow at Asbury October 27, 2013 Twenty Third Sunday after Pentecost Scripture: 2 Corinthians 8:1-3 Sermon: “Giving Joyfully and Generously” Theme: The Christian churches at Philippi, Thessalonica and Berea, were the three cities where the churches in Macedonia were located. Paul lifts them up to the Christians in Corinth as models of Christian giving. What are you going to do with your money? Take care of your own needs … thats why God provides it. Take care of the family around you; if you dont do that then someone else will have to do it for you. Save and plan for the future; thats being a wise steward. And give. We will be lifting up four points – (1) the Macedonian giving was in response to God’s love, (2) their giving goes on regardless of difficult circumstances or poverty, (3) they gave with joy and (4) they gave generously.
