Tomorrow is Christmas, and to all who truly celebrate, I wish it - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow is Christmas, and to all who truly celebrate, I wish it be joyous for you and yours. Im not going to get into all the pagan history behind the date and traditions, however, I must say, if you are a follower of Christ and wish to truly honor his spirit and what he stood for, then do not indulge in the superficial; in meaningless materialism and over consumption. Im not saying you cant exchange some type of meaningful gifts with loved ones, but it doesnt have to be a bunch of expensive stuff to show your love, and it most definitely should not be all about the gifts. The point of tomorrow should be service to others, and giving to those less fortunate than yourself. Im pretty positive thats how Jesus would want people to celebrate him. That should be our goal everyday, but if you are a Christian then especially tomorrow. Im not Christian, I dont celebrate Christmas, but I know enough to confidently say that Jesus would certainly not want people to celebrate him by exchanging meaningless material goods with each other, and even going into debt to do so. Jesus taught people to renounce material possessions and he strongly opposed usury. The way that most people celebrate Christmas goes against main principles that Jesus stood for, thus making it an insult rather than a celebration. Spend time with loved ones, be of service to others, give to the less fortunate, and stay away from the superficial, gluttonous, materialistic traditions that corporate America has brainwashed people into believing is a holy day. I wish peace, love, health and happiness for you all!
