Tomorrow is St Patricks Day, and I was leafing through a book of poetry I have which, diversely and all inclusively encompasses both Unionist and Nationalist aspirations - in other words there is a distinct lack of bias in its content. This one poem caught my eye, and I am quoting the first couple of verses - It really is worth reading and in its substance there is a rich vein or seam mined lauding brotherhood yet without anybody having to compromise upon ones fundamental principals and beliefs. Come-pledge again thy heart and hand- One grasp that neer shall sever; Our watchword be-Our native land- Our motto-Love for ever. And let the orange lily be Thy badge, my patriot brother- The everlasting green for me; And we for one another. Behold how green the gallant stem On which the flower is blowing; How in one heavenly breeze and beam both flower and stem are glowing. The same good soil, sustaining both, Makes both united flourish; But cannot give the orange growth, and cease the green to nourish.
