Tomorrow is my girlfriends funeral. Her name was Courtney Lauren Lumpkin. I met her at Sylvan learning center. She was my tutor for a speed reading class. I was always so nervous inside I never asked her out. So she took it upon herself to muster the courage to email me through Wright State and we finally had our first date date in January. Through the months she was in my life we eventually exchanged in great detail with one another; what I now understand to be love. Plucks from a violin turned into overtures. She got me going to church again, She got me running again, She got to stop smoking... every hour, She even somehow got me to bath and attend classes regularly. We planned on transferring to OSU together, she scheduled appointments with admissions counselors for me. We made a day trip of it. Walking out of the neuroscience admissions office she missed a step and tripped on the sidewalk curb that day. I told her, Because no one saw you Im going to tell everyone we know. She tickled my heart. We would dance in public. No reason, no music. We would cook together, always stopping by Dorothy Lane Market after we exercised to gawk at the pastry section. I miss her everyday.
