Tomorrow is the first official Sunday of summer, and Pastor Lynn - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow is the first official Sunday of summer, and Pastor Lynn begins a summer-long journey exploring some of the more prominent Biblical characters. Throughout the summer hell explore the lives of Abraham, Moses and David. He begins tomorrow with a first look at Abraham in a message entitled Godly People Doing Ungodly Things. Heres an excerpt from the introduction: Our congressman found himself in a little hot water recently. I’ll not go into the details (you can google it if you’ve been vacationing in outer Siberia), but suffice it to say he ran for office on a platform of God and family, and his actions would belie his platform. A lot of people pointed fingers at the congressman, and said, “See, what a good Christian he is?” Admittedly, it’s not the greatest witness of faith, but lest we be too hard on the congressman, let’s remember that we’ve had a few failures along our journey. It’s just that most of us don’t live our lives in the public eye. The bible, too, is filled with characters who lived faith-filled lives. The Bible is rich with examples of godly people doing some pretty ungodly things. We like to think we’re godly people, too. We want to do the right thing, but sometimes, try as we might, we fail to honor God with our actions. Our failures, though, rather than pointing to our ungodliness, point more to our humanity, and our need for forgiveness and grace. So, rather than pointing fingers, let’s discover some lessons that might help us in our own struggles to live faithfully in the grace and forgiveness of God. Join us tomorrow at 8:30 & 10:50 a.m., for traditional worship in the sanctuary, or at 9:30 a.m., in the fellowship hall for contemporary worship. If youre already on vacation, join us at 10:50 a.m., live at fumcmonroela.org. Click on the Watch Live tab to view our live streaming webcast. Hey?
