Tomorrow morning, I go into my absolute, no return, retirement phase...During the month of October, My radar endorsement expires, my MMD certificate expires, My Merchant Mariners License expires, My 40 hr. hazwhopper supervisory status card expires, my asbestos abatement certificate expires, both of my first aid certificates expire, my fire fighting certificate expires, my medical certification to wear half face and full face masks expires, my certificate of completion for Security Training under Maritime Security Acts expires, My TWIC card expires, all three of my homeland security certification certificates expire and to top that off, My passport is up for its five year renewal......I started to renew all of them just for perpetuity purposes, since some of these have been with me since the early seventies, but at the cost of a little over 3 grand just to say I still have them valid, it is not worth it...I will be left with my survival craft certificate, confined space certificates and FCC licenses as these three are lifetime certifications......That being the case, I will soon be about as retired as i can get retired...
