Tomorrow morning I head to Philadelphia for the Mothers In Charge conference. The conference title is; THE COST OF VIOLENCE and THE JOURNEY FROM PAIN TO PEACE. I have no idea what to expect but Im looking forward to whatever God has to show me over the next few days. The past couple of weeks have been very full, not just with activities and loved ones but also with some very significant events in my personal life. Recently I initiated the process for a Victim/Offender dialogue. Basically Im requesting permission to meet with the young man responsible for Brians death. This is done with an experienced mediator, in my case someone I consider a friend, Jon Powell and his assistant, Joia Caron, a new friend God has blessed me with. They have already been to the prison and met with James on May 1st, who was reportedly receptive, humble and grateful for the meeting and the information exchanged. He expressed genuine remorse and is agreeable to meeting me as well. Now its up to NC DOC. Although I obviously have a lot to process, emotionally and spiritually, overall I have much peace about my decision and I know God is leading me and I am willing to trust in him, knowing he is walking right beside me every step of the way. Living peacefully, loving freely & forgiving faithfully...and feeling very much like a Mother In Charge myself and grateful for it. God is good all the time and he is true to his promises. That in all things God works together with those who love him to bring about what is good... ~ Romans 8:28
