Tomorrow morning I wave goodbye to Karin Yamaguchi, my Rotary - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow morning I wave goodbye to Karin Yamaguchi, my Rotary Youth Exchange student from Japan who has also been my sister and best friend for the past 6 weeks. There have already been many tears in the Crow household- shed by aunts, grandparents and friends as well as parents and siblings- and I foresee only more tomorrow morning as Karin begins her journey home. The Rotary Youth Exchange has not only allowed me to have some incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experiences in Japan, but it also offered a new lease of life to my family throughout the (usually quite monotonous) summer holidays in which serious duties were put aside for a few extra days this year so that we could explore parts of our own country with Karin, that we had never had the time to visit before. The exchange program has been so enriching in more ways than I could count, but particularly my short time in Japan taught me more about the appreciation of culture, tradition, religion, and language more than an A-level lecture ever will. Karin bought love and laughter to me and my family and I will miss her to the moon and back until we next meet again!! I have made a best friend from the other side of the world; so thank you, Rotary Club, for the opportunity of a life time.
