Tomorrow morning, NASA will test the its next crewed spacecraft, - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow morning, NASA will test the its next crewed spacecraft, the Orion. This is a test flight, no humans will be on board. Basically, two laps around, and then a high speed reentry for a splashdown. Splashdown. Theres a term I never thought Id see in the year 2014. Yes, I know, the space shuttle was a costly vehicle that never (or was never allowed to) live up to its potential. Yes, I know that human spaceflight is an expensive endeavor. But the one thing that it has done is pushed human boundaries up and out. There is a very real potential for me to grumble about human priorities here. In fact, I just erased two whole paragraphs wherein I expressed my exasperation and disappointment with what has transpired from the time I graduated high school to where we are today. Im not. Though I wish that more attention had been paid over the past three decades. This is important, people. At least the Nolan brothers made NASA the true hero of humanity in their movie Interstellar. Did anyone notice that? Be that as it may, Godspeed, Orion. Ill watch from here.
