Tomorrow morning at 9, Deeper Roots shares music that will attempt to conjure up some wet weather…promoting the theme of rain. We’ll call it a rally cry, if you will, for some regular rain to stave off drought. The winter’s window is closing and so maybe if we will make a little noise things will shake loose. In addition to Old and In The Gray featuring Peter Rowan, stay tuned for the sounds of Big Maybelle, James McMurtry, Irma Thomas, Percy Sledge, and others. Our music is intended to encourage the rain with hope, familiarize ourselves with elements of rain as metaphor, and use some wishful thinking with songs that celebrate rain in abundance. Join Dave Stroud for two hours of roots music on Deeper Roots: A Century of America’s Music, Saturday at 9AM (PST) on member-supported community radio for Occidental and West County.
