Tomorrow morning officially marks the death of the Saturday - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow morning officially marks the death of the Saturday morning cartoon. Starting tomorrow, and for the first time since the early 1960s, no broadcast television network will have a dedicated block of childrens programing on Saturday morning. In honor of the passing of this American institution I have below listed, in no particular order, the favorite Saturday morning television shows from my childhood (that I can think of off the top of my head, there are many many more). These are only those I actually saw on Saturday morning, not re-runs of earlier shows I might have seen after school during the week. What are yours? Star Trek: The Animated Series The Super Friends The Land of the Lost The Space Sentinels Far Out Space Nuts The C.B. Bears Hong Kong Phooey Speed Buggy The Groovie Goolies Misterjaw Birdman and the Galaxy Trio Space Ghost Emergency! +4 The Ghost Busters (Original series starring Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch) Return to the Planet of the Apes The Impossibles Shazam! Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure of All Space Academy Jason of Star Command Tarzan and the Super 7 Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids The Funky Phantom The Bugaloos The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space Ark II Wacko The Hudson Brothers Show The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Hour Doctor Who (Tom Baker years) Below is That Time is Now, a loving tribute to the Super Friends created by the Cartoon Network, which is ironic since it is the Cartoon Network that is one of the principal reasons we no longer have Saturday morning cartoons.
