Tomorrow morning the opportunity to test ourselves begins. Sorry for my soap box the last two weeks but it was to prove a point. That there is nothing at all wrong with teaching a child about hunting. There are endless references to hunting and archery in every religious text and in countless scholars writings throughout time. I choose to pass this tradition on to my son, as something he and I can share. It is not only hunting but respect for the animals we hunt, stewardship of our public and private lands, immersion in nature, and all the greatness that we drive past every day but are "too busy" to just stop and go sit in the woods, or a field, or a hillside for a few hours and actually SEE it. My best hunts usually end with no animal taken but a heart stoping commune with nature. That is the true reward of hunting, not the trophy you take, but the memory you make. Happy hunting all.
