Tomorrow most families will be celebrating Mothers Day. There will even be an emphasis on Mothers in churches even though the 4th Sunday of Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus as the Good Shepherd. There are few words as comforting and powerful to a believer than those of Psalm 23 and The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want! The Gospel for the day is John 10 reminding us that true sheep know their shepherds voice, know which gate leads to the pasture and to safety, know they are to be wary of strangers and know their shepherd will lay down his life for them. As you prepare today to worship the Good Shepherd in the comfort of your church listen carefully to His voice especially those words of forgiving, accepting, providing and guiding grace and of course give thanks for mothers who learned their shepherding from the best Shepherd.
