Tomorrow our offices are closed to mark ANZAC Day - the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. It is also the day on which we remember Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of Anzac, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity. We’ve had many tax officers serve in the armed forces in the course of our 100+ year history, some of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice Pictured is Pte Blair Taylor who joined the Australian Military Forces in April 1941. In 1943 he was a Prisoner of War in Malaya, held by the Japanese. Pte Blair survived and returned home, continuing to work for the ATO with 44 years of service. His grand-daughter Alisha also works for the ATO.
