Tomorrow we celebrate the Fourth of July. At times I appear - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow we celebrate the Fourth of July. At times I appear critical and even cynical about the present state of affairs in our great country. Although many people may read this as being unpatriotic, I am one of the most patriotic persons you would ever want to meet. My passion for this country is only surpassed by my love for God and my family. I love this country because it has provided me the opportunity to rise from being the son of a car mechanic with an eighth grade education and a childhood near the poverty level to becoming a successful attorney in a community that I love. This country has provided an environment where I could raise my children and see that they were educated in a university that was affordable. I love this country because it provides us freedom to become whatever we want to be if we apply our God given abilities and talents through sacrifice and hard work. I love this country because we can still earn and save even though we now see less after taxes than we used to see. I love this country because we have the freedom to worship, to travel, to marry and have a family. As critical as I may be of our governing leaders I am thankful to God that we live in a country that has elections, and where change is still possible through patience and the ballot box. So let us say a prayer and be thankful for all we have. Allow us to see our cups as half full and not half empty. Finally, choose to celebrate tomorrow. Find something you truly enjoy and do it. Even with all our issues, we still live in the greatest country on the planet. I pray that God continues to bless this great nation we call the United States of America! Happy Fourth of July to all my friends!
