“Tomorrow we’ll discover what our God in Heaven has in store. One more dawn, one more day, one day more!” Heading to orientation for my year in Ecuador tomorrow! The day has a somewhat surreal feeling to it, as I experience many different “lasts” with my family. I can’t say how excited I am to embark on this journey, but I am incredibly nervous as well. I have never been away from family and friends for so long, and I know that the experience will be intense and at times overwhelming. However, I also know that this is where I am called to be, that many different events and experiences in my life have been guiding me to this moment, and that I will leave this experience feeling content with my decision. I am going to have very limited contact for the next thirteen months, but I am still able to send and receive snail mail. You can follow my blog which I will try to continue updating (davidgoestoecuador.wordpress) and if you are interested in keeping touch with me via mail: My address in Ecuador should be written as follows: “David Gaillardetz o Darcy Phillips Rostro de Cristo Casilla 09-01-1024 Guayaquil, Ecuador” Make sure you use the US Postal Service, and send mail in small padded envelopes or less. They wont accept any boxes and nothing over 1 lb. Weird, I know, but such is life. Regardless of what happens, I want to thank all of you once again for the support, both financial and emotional, that you have given me. I truly wouldn’t be at this point without it. I have been blessed with incredible people in my life, and that knowledge coupled with the love and support you have given me are the reasons I feel strong enough to commit to this year of service abroad in Ecuador. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Sigue adelante.
