Tomorrows the big day... yikes! Im not thrilled about adding a shiny metal plate and a few screws to my neck, but I am more than ready to get rid of this nerve pain in my back and arm. Its been brutal! When the pain gets severe, I always think about how much pain Macy has endured in the last 10 months, and I suck it up and quit whining. If she can grin and bear it, then so can I! I only have to spend one night in the hospital, so I look forward to coming home to my caretakers: Jeremy, my mom, and Cate :) Speaking of pain with Macy... shes been very cranky the last two weeks, along with a big decrease in appetite (SO not like her.) I chalked it up to her low counts, because even though Macy has never let low counts get her down (no pun intended,) the doctors say that many children do. Well, I should have known there was something else, but I never imagined shed have mouth sores. She hasnt had any harsh chemo in a while, and any chemo that shes had recently, shes had countless times with no trouble. Well, I happened to take a peek inside her mouth last night, and what do you know?! Two cheeks FULL of sores. I feel absolutely terrible that we didnt find this sooner, although she doesnt make it easy to check for this (you might come out missing a finger or two, because she will bite them off.) they have been coated with the magic mouthwash, and they already are almost healed tonight. Im hoping thats a sign that her ANCs are on the rise (fingers and toes crossed.) She also has been extremely pale lately, but as of yesterday, her color is getting better. Pray that she has a good report Thursday so she can get back on track with chemo. Its unnerving for her not to get chemo that has been scheduled for a few weeks in a row. They need to find a good balance for her... chemo that will kill the leukemia cells, yet keep her counts steady. Goodnight all of my wonderful friends and family!! The texts, FB messages, and continued prayers have been uplifting today! Oh, and one more very important task: Please pray for our buddy Connor. They will try to extubate him in the morning, and our prayers are that he can breathe steady and be able to keep his oxygen levels up on his own. We hope that the rest hes gotten has helped his body take care of these nasty viruses. We love you Connor, Katie Corkern, and the rest of your amazing family. Well be cheering you on in the morning!
