Tonight I am bringing a little American cuisine to France. I usually cook some Yankee fare for my hosts, Benoit and Corinne, while here to (usually) enthusiastic responses (but then Benoit loves any kind of food). Tonight, to their table, I bring some Old Fashioned Tex-Mex Chili Con Carne, Cornbread, Tortilla chips and Guacamole. Most ingredients can be found in France but I had to smuggle in Jalapeño peppers and Betty Crocker Cornbread Mix (which caused the MSP airport security agents to search my backpack). Tortilla chips wouldnt have survived a transatlantic flight without turning to powder so I had to dig around at the local Casino Supermarche to find something resembling corn tortilla chips. They should work. Theres no Dos Equis or Corona or Pacifico beer that I could find so I guess well just have to suffer with 1664. One makes do. Fortunately the shop had plenty of chili powder so everything should work out. Renee joins us for dinner. Ole!
