Tonight I played my regular Wednesday Night engagement at Cucina Verona. I have some concern going forward into the Fall about whether or not the business will be good enough to allow the weekly gigs to continue. But for now the dining rooms still busy every time I play there. Tonight we had a guest who is a composer of circus music! He had come in last night, and ended up playing the piano for an hour or so (no regular music on Tuesdays...yet). He was a big fan of my blues stuff, so I accommodated him with several of my blues selections (a few more then I would usually do for a dinner music gig). Walkin Blues, Outskirts of Town, Crosscut Saw, Smoky Joes Cafe, a couple more. At the end I had an audience of 12 at four tables, who were talking too me and commenting on the music. Just a few minutes before 9 PM they started getting up and walked out on me - dropping tips and comments as they streamed by. Perfect! I was home a few minutes after 9 :-). About a year ago a young lady recorded me at (then) VCanto on her cellphone then sent it too me on a flash drive. The room has superb acoustics - but the crowd hubbub is ALSO magnified, so be forwarned... This is my theme song:
