Tonight Im curled up in bed with Legs. Legs is an old lady and getting ready to pass over. Legs came to us in December 2011 with our first rescue. She was not one of the rescued hens, but was given to us by the farmer in a bag as he no longer wanted her. When we lifted her out of the bag the reasons for her being given to us, and her subsequent name, were obvious. Legs had the worst case of scaly leg I have ever seen. It took weeks of treatment and a good year before the scales presented as normal. Legs was integrated into Gerrys flock where she became Gerrys favourite girl. Legs had a tendency to go broody and was the loudest most hormonal broody I have ever met. She caused fights between Gerry and Wee Gerry as they both vied for her attention. Recently she has become slower and less uptight and tonight she is curled up in the crook of my arm as I dont think her time will be far away. She may not have been an ex commercial lady but she has guts and for that I love her ❤️
